Bobby Lashley Wanted a Road Warriors-Type Tag Team with MASSIVE WWE Superstar

Bobby Lashley recently revealed that he once pitched the idea of forming a dominant tag team with Brock Lesnar, reminiscent of the legendary Road Warriors, during their time in WWE.

In a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Bobby Lashley discussed his idea of forming an unstoppable tag team with Brock Lesnar. Lashley believed that pairing two powerhouses like himself and Lesnar, with Paul Heyman as their manager, could have created one of the most dominant teams in WWE history. Inspired by the Road Warriors’ legendary run, Lashley envisioned the duo capturing tag team gold and wreaking havoc in the WWE landscape.

Lashley said, “Wouldn’t it be cool if they put us together, had Paul Heyman manage us, and we dominated as a tag team? He could say, ‘I have the greatest fighter in the world and the greatest tag team,’ and that could build natural tension between us.”

Why the Idea Never Came to Life

Despite the appeal of the concept, WWE chose to keep Lashley and Lesnar as rivals rather than partners. The two finally clashed at Elimination Chamber 2022 in a highly anticipated match that ended in disqualification. Lashley felt that while their feud was memorable, there was untapped potential in presenting them as a team. He speculated that their dominance might have been seen as “too overwhelming” for the WWE roster.

The Potential of Lashley and Lesnar’s Partnership

Fans were intrigued by the possibility of Lashley and Lesnar joining forces. Their combined strength, athleticism, and MMA backgrounds could have made them an unbeatable force in the tag team division. Lashley’s pitch also included an eventual split, where growing egos and rivalry over who was the “greatest fighter” would lead to a dramatic fallout.

Lashley and Lesnar’s Current Status

While Lashley has since joined AEW, Brock Lesnar remains off WWE television due to ongoing legal controversies. The dream of a Lashley-Lesnar team-up remains one of WWE’s “what if” scenarios that fans can only imagine.
