Ex-WWE RAW Star Accused of Scamming Promoter

Former WWE superstar Matt Riddle is facing accusations of scamming a wrestling promoter out of $2,000 and failing to appear at an indie event.

On December 19, 2024, wrestling promoter Dillon Hines of World Classic Professional Big Time Wrestling accused Matt Riddle of breaching an agreement and skipping a scheduled match and meet-and-greet appearance. Hines detailed the situation in a Facebook post, claiming that an individual named Michelle Grey demanded $2,000 for Riddle’s flight expenses on the morning of the event.

Despite Hines confirming the payment and receiving acknowledgment from Riddle, the former WWE star did not show up. The agreed fee for Riddle’s appearance was originally set at $8,000 plus travel costs, but the demands reportedly escalated mid-negotiation to $10,000.

Financial and Reputational Damage

Hines expressed frustration over the financial losses caused by Riddle’s absence. Ticket sales and meet-and-greet purchases were significantly affected, damaging the event’s overall success. Hines stated, “In our industry, a promo is as good as a contract. He did the promo; he chose not to perform to the contractual agreement.”

The promoter also shared screenshots of his communication with Riddle and Grey to substantiate his claims. Hines noted that his legal team is now exploring options for recovering damages.

Response from Matt Riddle’s Camp

While Matt Riddle has not yet publicly addressed the accusations, his girlfriend, Misha Montana, has defended him. Montana reportedly stated that Riddle refunded the promoter, denying any wrongdoing and suggesting the incident was a misunderstanding. She also threatened legal action against Hines for the accusations.

A Pattern of Controversy

Riddle’s career has been marked by various controversies, including his WWE release and previous legal disputes. This latest incident has further tarnished his reputation within the wrestling community, with some promoters vowing not to work with him again.

As the situation unfolds, fans and industry insiders await further statements from Riddle.
