MJF Denied Use of Diamond Cutter by WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page

It was recently revealed that AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) was denied permission to use the iconic Diamond Cutter finisher by WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page (DDP). Known for finishing opponents with moves like the Heatseeker and Salt of the Earth armbar, MJF apparently had ambitions of adding the legendary move to his arsenal but was ultimately turned down by DDP.

DDP’s Decision to Pass the Diamond Cutter to QT Marshall

During an episode of Hey! (EW), AEW’s QT Marshall shared insight into the process, explaining that DDP chose him over MJF to inherit the Diamond Cutter. “I actually enjoy when people say the diamond cutter handed down from Diamond Dallas Page because people hate it. They hate that of all the professional wrestlers in the world, he chose me. So, I want to keep putting that out to the world. So… for those fans out there watching, DDP chose me. Could have been MJF, could have been anyone else. He chose me,” Marshall stated.

Marshall’s remarks show that DDP’s decision was deliberate, possibly rooted in his specific connection with Marshall and their shared background in AEW.

MJF’s Continued Success Without the Diamond Cutter

Although he didn’t secure the rights to use the Diamond Cutter, MJF has built an impressive reputation with his own signature moves and ring tactics. As the former AEW World Champion, MJF relies on his Heatseeker piledriver, the Salt of the Earth submission, and his clever use of the Dynamite Diamond Ring, which he often uses to win matches through underhanded tactics. His unique style and charisma have allowed him to stand out without the need to adopt the Diamond Cutter, further solidifying his presence as one of AEW’s top stars.

MJF’s Upcoming Challenges in AEW

MJF’s ambitions remain high as he continues to headline AEW events, with a notable match expected at Full Gear later this month. His impressive technical skills and on-mic presence have allowed him to maintain momentum, proving that his character doesn’t rely on borrowed moves to stay relevant.

By forging his path and continuing to innovate, MJF keeps AEW fans engaged with his dynamic approach, demonstrating that even without the Diamond Cutter, he’s more than capable of making his mark on professional wrestling.
