Former WWE Superstar Explains WWE Departure

In a recent interview, WWE Superstar Ricochet shared the story behind his and Samantha Irvin’s departure from WWE, revealing their desire to pursue new creative paths. Ricochet explained that, while his time in WWE was rewarding, he often felt like he was “starting over,” working to elevate other stars without a storyline of his own. His contract came to a close in mid-June, and he ultimately chose a new direction, hoping to reignite his passion for wrestling by joining AEW, where he felt he could fully showcase his skills.

Samantha Irvin’s WWE Role and Her Desire for a New Path

Irvin, a former ring announcer for Raw, also sought a shift away from WWE. While grateful for her time with WWE, Irvin has always identified as a performer, having worked in stage shows and Cirque du Soleil before joining WWE. For her, announcing was simply an entry point, not her true calling. “Announcing was only supposed to be a way in,” Ricochet explained, noting that Irvin always wanted a more dynamic role that showcased her talents and creativity beyond ring introductions.

After WrestleMania 40, Irvin realized she had reached a peak in her WWE role, making it the right time to explore other opportunities that aligned better with her vision as a performer.

Overcoming Backlash and Setting New Standards

Since their departure, both Ricochet and Irvin have faced some fan backlash, as many wrestling fans often expect WWE talents to remain committed for extended periods. Addressing the response, Ricochet acknowledged that wrestling fans become deeply attached to seeing familiar faces in their established roles, leading to surprise or disappointment when those individuals move on. However, both he and Irvin feel confident in their decisions, seeing this as a chance to explore new avenues and keep their creative flames alive.

Ricochet’s Fresh Start in AEW and What Lies Ahead

Now in AEW, Ricochet has expressed excitement for a fresh start and hopes to bring renewed energy and creativity to his performances. Together, Ricochet and Irvin are examples of WWE talents who remain committed to personal growth, proving that career changes can be a positive step toward fulfilling their passions.
