Stone Cold Steve Austin Reveals Urgent Need for Knee Surgery

WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling icon “Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently shared that he will need left knee surgery “pretty quick” to address a long-standing injury. Known for his powerful in-ring performances, Austin has dealt with knee issues throughout his career, dating back to his college football days.

The Origins of Austin’s Knee Injury

In a recent episode of the Bobbycast podcast, Austin revealed the backstory of his left knee injury, explaining that it initially occurred during his time playing football at North Texas State University. Recalling the injury, he explained, “I tore my ACL, but it was a mop-end tear where you tear it in the middle and the edges are kind of frayed.” Though doctors didn’t repair it at the time due to the strength of his leg muscles, Austin noted that the injury was a key factor in the knee issues that followed.

Decades of Wear and Tear Lead to Surgery

Austin’s storied WWE career saw him rely on knee braces for support during his matches, as his high-impact wrestling style took its toll. Over the years, he’s had numerous procedures, including cadaver ligament transplants for both his ACL and PCL, but he now says that a full knee replacement is likely necessary to maintain mobility.

“I need a new left knee here pretty quick,” Austin stated, describing how the wear and tear have compounded over time. Fans remember his intense, hard-hitting style, which brought countless iconic moments to WWE, but it also contributed to the toll on his body.

What This Could Mean for Austin’s WWE Appearances

While Austin’s in-ring days are behind him, fans still hope to see him at future WWE events. Next year’s WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas could be a prime opportunity, though Austin has yet to confirm if he’ll make an appearance. Regardless, his legacy remains as one of WWE’s most beloved and influential figures.

As Austin prepares for this surgery, fans are hopeful for a smooth recovery, knowing that the Texas Rattlesnake will bring his enduring resilience to this next chapter.
